A good question (What Sort Of Perks Should I Ask My Boss For) I can remember when I used to work years ago, we didn't used to ask the boss for anything because we where too scared those days of what the boss may say to us if we asked for too much of them. Also we had a union who used to ask those type of questions. Its all changed since those days, I think bosses expect you to ask them for perks now.

Lets see what goes on in the workplace these days. We are still in recession although other people might think this is not true. Because of this recession employers are not going to hire until things start to get better therefore more work goes to the workers they still have working for them which puts stress on the workers, so workers are not asking for more paid time off so they can have more rest for doing more work.

So what is happening these days is employees are asking for extra time off at xmas so they can spend more time with family and friends this will give them more rest over the holiday and they won't feel so stressed out and can come back to work refreshed and ready for whatever they have to do when they come back to normal employment. Your boss these days are worried about retention so they will be open to suggestions from employees.

There seems to be more communication now between the boss and the worker than there was before the recession set in. Now employees feel more confident in approaching bosses over more time off work than they used to be before because of the free use of communication that is going on in the workplace now.

Employees these days are not afraid like they used to be to ask for extra perks simply because of the economic situation that is present even today. Actually this is a good time to ask for something from employers because there more likely to get what they want given the lack of workers in the workplace today.
